Maria Owings Shriver was born November 6, 1955, is an American journalist, author, former First Lady of California, and the founder of the nonprofit corporation The Women's Alzheimer's Movement. She was wedded to former Governor of California and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, from him she filed for separation in 2011. 
Shriver has earned a Peabody Award and was co-anchor for NBC's Emmy-winning coverage of the 1988 Summer Olympics. As an executive generator of The Alzheimer's Project, Shriver earned two Emmy Awards and an Academy of Television Arts & Sciences prize for producing a "television show with a conscience". She is a part of the Kennedy family; her mom, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, was a sister of John F., Robert and Ted Kennedy. Shriver is currently a “special” reporter and correspondent for NBC News.
